Ms. Houchin is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with high distinction from Valparaiso University in Indiana. She has extensive experience including working as a home health nurse in rural Kentucky and as a hematology nurse at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Grand Valley State University and is Board Certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Kristi and her husband, Dr. Eric Houchin, came to Vicksburg in 1999. The Houchins have two sons, Jakob ans Samuel.
